AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

I usually always use tegaderm on fresh tattoos unless you specify that you do not want it. Tegaderm is a latex free, clear, protective barrier, and helps to ensure your tattoo stays protected from infection.

  • Leave this protective barrier film on for 4-5 days.

  • The film will fill up underneath with ink and plasma. This is 100% normal! It may look like fluid or blisters are on your skin under there, but I promise there are no blisters on your tattoo. If you are concerned about how something looks, send me a picture!

  • You can shower with your tegaderm on. Don't let super hot water touch it directly as it may melt the adhesive causing it to fall off early. Do not soak the area in the tub or in pools.

  • Leave it alone! Even if it starts peeling up in the corners or near your joints, as long as the tattoo is still covered, leave it be until it's time to take it off.

  • I will provide a few extra pieces in the event that your tegaderm is leaking fluid. I recommend just patching the leaking area or if it's coming off too much, you can replace the tegaderm by coming back into the shop or purchasing more at your local drugstore.

  • After at least 4 days is up, I recommend removing your tegaderm in a hot shower to loosen up the adhesive. It's very sticky and hurts to remove!

  • Wash your tattoo very carefully with antibacterial soap, do not scrub it.

  • Use an unscented, un-dyed, moisturizer on your tattoo. I recommend Eucerin if you are going to buy one, but anything that is low in alcohol, unscented, un-dyed will work! Moisturize your tattoo at least 1-2 times per day. The best time to moisturize is right after a shower as your pores are open and you will lock in the most moisture.

  • Your tattoo is still healing for 2 weeks or more. I recommend moisturizing for at least 2 weeks after you get tattooed. However, dry skin will make your tattoo look dull in the future, and I recommend using lotion on your tattoos as much as you can forever to ensure they stay looking fresh and amazing.

  • Do not go swimming or expose your new tattoo to direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks after you get tattooed.

  • Do not itch your fresh tattoo!

  • If you want your tattoo to look amazing for years to come, please always use sunscreen on your tattoos. Sunburn is like laser removal, and will fade your tattoo more quickly.
